PEDIGREE: Drosselklang I has a full brother, Drosselklang II, who is still actively breeding at the German Celle State Stud and has sired international jumpers such as Sky Boy, Dornicord, Bella Donna and Dobel’s Frechdachs. Another approved son out of the mare Frostlady, is the fabulous stallion Gamet. Don Carlos’ progeny were sometimes quite demanding on their riders, but always rewarded them with outstanding performances in the ring.

Don Carlos sired numerous approved sons such as Dakar, Don Juan, Don Pedro, Dynamo and Domino, including the very successful Dolorit, who sired jumpers like Billy Onduno (winner of SA Derby with Wayne Dale), Davetsaub Lombard (competed at World Equestrian Games with Jonathan Clarke) and the A Grade horses, Lord Davetsaub (Rogan Asken), Lorbas (Anne-Marie Esslinger) and Globus ridden by Roger Hessen. Frustra II, was also a very successful sire and sire of dams, producing quite a number of very useful horses.

PERFORMANCE: Drosselklang I was approved in Germany and stood at the State Celle Stud for 8 years before being exported to Namibia. Drosselklang I is now an old man, but he is still in very good health

PROGENY: Drosselklang I is an incredibly good showjumping sire, putting his stamp on each and every one of his foals. His foals are attractive and all have very correct legs. Drosselklang I is a very choice for the average thoroughbred mare. Progeny to impress are A New Era (winner of the 2009 Avis Derby with Jade Hook), Varus (ridden in 1.40 classes by Kim Robson), D-Day I (Highest price at Johannesburg auction in 2005) and D-D II (standing in KZN).
